The Open Space Commission is established by the Town Council as follows:

(1) Qualifications. The Open Space Commission shall consist of five (5) regular members and two (2) alternate members, who shall be appointed by the Town Council. Five (5) of the members shall be residents of the Town and two (2) members may be residents of the County. All members shall have been residents of the County for not less than six (6) months at the time of their appointment.

(2) Term of office. Term limits. Each member shall be appointed for a term of two (2) years, staggered so that approximately one-half (½) of the terms expire each year.

Members shall serve as a regular member for no more than eight (8) consecutive years. Members that serve as a regular member for eight consecutive years shall be eligible to reapply for a regular seat on the Commission after a period of two years.
