(a) No Town official or employee shall knowingly disclose privileged or confidential information without proper legal authorization from the Town Council, Mayor, Town Manager or Town Attorney. No Town official or employee shall use confidential or privileged information to advance his or her personal or financial interests or to advance the gain of another.

(b) For purposes of this Section, privileged or confidential information means matters required by state or federal law or regulation to be kept confidential; attorney-client communications; and other matters which may be discussed in executive session pursuant to Article 4.6 of the Home Rule Charter and applicable state law.

(c) This Section is not intended to impair or limit public access to information that is otherwise publicly available, to limit the prevention or reporting of a crime or unlawful conduct, or to limit disclosure in open meeting prior to final decision or action by the Town. (Prior code 4.18.140)
