A person commits the offense of shoplifting when he or she, with intent to avoid making payment, intentionally conceals or carries away or knowingly aids another to conceal or carry away unpurchased merchandise having a worth of less than two hundred dollars ($200.00) and owned or offered for sale by any store or other mercantile establishment. Concealment of goods shall be prima facie evidence of intent to avoid making payment. (Prior code 9.12.090; Ord. 1288 §1, 2008)
